The MTB Centre of Ledesma
The MTB Centre of Ledesma offers a net of marked paths with almost 100 kilometres; there are five signposted routes which are classified according their level of difficulty.
This centre has also a reception place for cyclists and a bicycle workshop where they can repair, wash and hire bicycles. This centre is situated in the Tourist Hostel.
Ledesma, the old Roman Bletisa, declared Historic Site, is worth a visit. Its main highlights are the castle, known as La Fortaleza; and the church of Santa María la Mayor, one of the best Gothic buildings of the province, with an interesting religious art museum. The church of Santa Elena and the old Hospital of San José, the Alhóndiga and several manor houses are also interesting places.
Ledesma has also interesting Roman remains, such as the verraco, in the Fortress Gradens; a magnificent pre-Roman menhir and the simple Puente Mocho bridge.
One of the routes suggested by this MTB Centre goes straight to this old bridge. Around there, you can enjoy an idyllic landscape, which is ideal to rest, cool off and enjoy with friends or family. The route of the Path to the Mocho Bridge goes among meadows and crosses a hundred-years- old holm oak grove where you will be able to see griffon vultures, black tailed kites, kestrels, black storks, foxes, rabbits and hares.
The Tajurmientos Path, which lets us enjoy the typical landscape of the meadow, the Cordel de Merinas; and the Ruta del Tormes, which crosses old cattle routes (such as tracks, lanes and cattle tracks) are some more routes suggested for hikers and cyclists, and are ideal to enjoy the most amazing landscapes.
