Ganadería Los Bayones. Finca “El Vecino”

The finca “El Vecino” is located in Calzada de Don Diego, 20 km. far from Salamanca, and i covers a surface of 350 hectares. In this finca the different kinds of cows and bulls graze: cows, bulls, utreros (bulls between 3 and 4 years old), erales (bulls between 2 and 3 years old), añojos (bulls between 1 and 2 years old) and they make the “tentaderos” (check the ferocity of the bulls and see if they are ready for fighting); they also follow the development of the bulls.

This finca is important because they breed bulls which are big and show good appearance; the bull experts usually call them “buenas caras”.

Apart from enjoying a guided tour through the different enclosures and looking carefully at the cows, añojos, erales and bulls, the finca has a trial bullring where the strength and ferocity of the bulls is observed. Then they make a local products tasting, including Iberian cold meats; this is the best way of finishing a day out.

The finca El Vecino, shares the bovine cattle exploitation with a farm of lambs and Iberian pigs, so, this is a unique opportunity to get to know the world of a different kind of cattle.
