El Coto de Nuestra Señora del Carmen Garden

Near Montemayor del Rio, in the village of Peñacaballera, near Puerto de Bejar and the Via de la Plata, we can find El Coto de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, one of the most beautiful gardens in the province of Salamanca.

The Count of Palacios commissioned its construction at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 19th century, as a romantic garden with influences of the English landscape gardening. Fountains, paths, staircases, together with an arbour and resting areas get adapted to the uneven ground.

The plant species arise in a natural way in each corner. There are big trees, such as some of exotic origin: araucarias, secuoias, red oaks, cedars from the Himalayas and Oregon, as well as some peninsular species, such as yews, laurels, cherry trees and all kinds of fir trees.

This amazing romantic garden, which has a private ownership, also provides accommodation.
