Blues Festival of Béjar
Béjar, very well known by its good quality clothing and nowadays by its historical site and tourist centre of the sierra, is also a national cultural site.
During the month of July, the Bejarana night hosts the Blues International Festival, which is an annual appointment for music enthusiasts and music-lovers. Many important leading figures have come to this festival since it was created almost 20 years ago, for example Buddy Miles, Joe Turner, Maceo Parker or Joe Louis Walter, and as important bands as The Yardbirds, Ten Years After or the Fabulous Thunderbirds.
It takes place on different places: the bull ring of El Castañar, the Cervantes Isabelline theatre, the classical La Alquitara Café, El Bosque Renaissance garden…Each of them has its own charm, but the performances in the bull ring, the oldest one in Spain, turn out to be unforgettable under the star firmament of Béjar.
The programme is completed with photo exhibitions, film projections and a training workshop for young musicians, led by teachers and experts of music. Apart from learning about the blues music, the students get involved in jam sessions, which is another attraction to be able to live the music and get to know Béjar.
