Mogarraz
The village of Mogarraz stands out in the middle of thick oak forests. It is one of the places in the Sierra de Francia that has been able to preserve its traditions.
The best way of getting to know the village is wandering through the streets and beautiful corners thanks to which it was awarded with the Historical Site title. It is the best way of discovering the amazing entangled architecture and the original lintels, some of them carved with religious writings.
When you walk along the streets you can hear the sound of the fountains or the tempting aroma of the home wine cellars; you should not miss the experience of going through alleys or small steep streets or discovering amazing transepts or coat of arms of old lineages or the frightening Inquisition.
There, under the Bell Tower, The Offertory of Nuestra Señora is celebrated in August, among the hustle and bustle of the fiesta and the profound religious feeling of the people. It is a unique opportunity to admire the amazing costumes and jewelry, which people take out of the chests and trunks where they were kept.
And if you would like to enjoy the nature, there is a good option, the Water Path, which joins the villages of Mogarraz and Monforte. Six sculptures have been added to the route and are part of the landscape. This is a good occasion to enjoy and get to know the fauna and flora of Las Batuecas Park.
