Mineralogy Museum in Barruecopardo
The village of Barruecopardo gets its name from the amazing orography of Las Arribes del Duero and their amazing granite outcropping. The subsoil is rich in minerals, especially in wolfram, which was mined in this place for almost the entire 20th century. Nowadays, these important mines are about to be reopened.
In this context, the Barruecopardo Council, with the help of the inhabitants of the village, has opened this small museum which offers a general view of the world of the mineralogy. The collection of minerals is exhibited in three exhibition-rooms and the outer patio. An audiovisual presentation is also projected and there are some display boards, tools and objects related to the mining activity.
