La Charrada

For those who come to Ciudad Rodrigo at Easter, on Holy Saturday, a singular folk festival is celebrated. It was declared of regional tourist interest.

Many local, regional and Portuguese folk groups take part in this festival which has been celebrated in this monumental city since 1980. This is a day of celebration for everybody, when the music and folklore make every corner of the city vibrate cheerfully.

People coming from different places, dressed up in traditional costumes, dance and dance to the sound of pipes, panderos (tambourines), tamboriles (drums) and other local instruments.
