Via de la Plata Interpretation Centre and Theme Park
The centre, located next to the late-Gothic beautiful church of Santa Maria la Blanca, has two floors. In different rooms, the historic importance of the Via de la Plata is explained, from its Roman origins to its transformation into a Pilgrimage Route to Santiago, which is the famous Mozarab or South Way.
Among the most important information, we can point out a traditional pottery collection which represents those places which are crossed by the old route, as well as some ethnographic information about leather craftsmanship, cartwright makers and other traditional professions related to transport. Opened in 2010, this centre has hosted some temporal exhibitions about this topic, and has also a theme open air space next to the church, where we will be able to see a copy of a piece of a Roman path.
