Peñaranda de Bracamonte.

The cereal plains in the east of Salamanca were set in this urban location, which has been declared Historical Site. In fact, from the 14th century, it had the privilege of celebrating its fairs and markets and this has encouraged its commercial urban nature.

Viceroy of Naples, Don Gaspar de Bracamonte y Guzman, was an important person in Peñaranda; he was a reputed patron and benefactor of the town and he founded the Madres Carmelitas convent, which is a place full of religious art with an impressive collection of Napolitan Paintings.

The town has experienced a significant development thanks to the German Sanchez Ruiperez Foundation, including the field of new technologies with the new CITA (International Centre for Advanced Technologies) office designed by Alvaro Siza.

You can enjoy its Castilian nature walking along the wide arcaded squares. After the walk, as a reward, you can try the local gastronomy, for example the roast “toston” (succkling-pig); in this town this meal has been taken to the highest levels of cooking.
