Territorio Vetón
2.500 years ago the Vetones, a pre-Roman village, found refuge in the uneven land of Las Arribes, an area in the province of Salamanca.
They built fortified settlements, called “castros” and surrounded them with high walls and land full of stuck stones in order to improve the defense. There are not so many fortified settlements anywhere else and this is an enigma at the present time.
This cultural as well as entertainment route offers two different tours: Lumbrales and Yecla de Yeltes, where the most amazing archaeological sites in the Iberian Peninsula are located: Las Merchanas and Yecla la Vieja fortified settlements.
