Accesible Hiking in the Natural Park Las Batuecas – Sierra de Francia

The natural park Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia offers two routes for disabled people.

The first one, known as the path of the Castaños Centenarios, starts in El Casarito, in the village of Nava de Francia. It crosses a wide forest full of Pyrenean oaks, and arrives in a group of chestnuts, some of which are around 500 years old.

The route is 1,6 km. long and is properly signaled. It has a car park, resting points, lookouts, informative panels, etc…From this route some spectacular views of the Peña de Francia, the magical mountain in the area, can be seen.

The other route is located in the mysterious Valle de las Batuecas. From the car park, a platform carries the visitors to the Carmelite Monastery. On the way, there are two small bridges over the river Batuecas; there are also informative panels, trees, etc.

On the other hand, there are also three entertaining areas, easily accesible for walking, bathing…there are picnic tables.; these places are Hoya in El Maíllo, La Mata in Nava de Francia, and Fuente Cántaro in El Casarito.
